My Observations on Newsweek article on Mayawati by Jeremy Kahn !

Largely such articles are written by individuals who suffer from a western bigotry and have their own perceptions about India. This article by Jeremy Kahn is no different however it’s a profound write-up on Mayawati.
Mayawati has at all times ruled UP like a despot, perpetually attained peak of corruption and has always made all efforts to glorify herself.
I fail to understand that whether the “Bahujan” or the “Sarvjan” that she claims to represent has anything to gain from her burgeoning wealth.
Despite her over-ambitious, loud-mouthed and unworthy desires to be the PM of India she probably has turned a blind eye to the fact that UP still is not the deciding state for PM of India. And I wonder how many people or what section of society feels she is even deserving of ruling UP.....
Well as for leading the country Mayawati seems to have sent her thinking organs on a long all expenses paid vacation.
more to follow.....

I agree with you about her iron-fist ruling style. However, I disagree that her ambition is all gas.

Her gluttony for the post stems from the sheer maths - She has fielded almost 500 candidates on BSP tickets countrywide as against Congress's 440 and BJP' 422. Owing to her upper and lower caste equation politics, if she wins even 70-80, it may be more powerful a kingmaker than what LEFT has been in UPA govt. So don't rule her out yet. She is banking on maths alone and you see her sprawling campaign from Lucknow to Ludhiana and Mumbai to Madurai. God save us!

This article by Jeremy Khan, I believe gives an insight to the life as well as rising of a politician in this case Behenji and a clear picture of "How people utilise the sentiments of Backward classes, minorities and poors for their own benefits". Behenji is no less and she is also a true politicfian. What happens when a person like you and me see the suffering of our countrymen, we feel we should do something for them... for our own country. And then we realise that we are not the neta or the mantris then how this is achieveable. Even the NGOs Functioning nowdays is influenced by these netas. So what we think let us become neta and fight for rights. Your luck prevails and you become a neta. But when you attain power you realise that our system is so hollow from inside. And people around you can be misguided easily for your own self and benefits. And by doing so you will not only gain in terms of monitory benefits but also you will enjoy power for a longer duration. Same happened with behenji. When swhe was away from power she could see the suffering of the dalists or as they say Hariajans, but when she attained power she was also trapped in the glamour of power and money. Now tell me, how long will it take for an honest IAS officer to make 5 crores of property and see how long is took beheneji to make the above money. But the condition of the dalits, the poors , the UP or the country remained the same. They are still being treated as they were being treated before the arrival of Behenji. Yes but something has changed. Earlier at govt offices at higher posts, we could see more upper caste people and lesser backward or lower caste peoples. But now they are either equal in nos or rather they outnumber them. The way the politicians are utilisng their power in dividing us in terms of hindus, muslims, dalits and whatever on the basis of reservations and benefits, days are not far when either we will become minority or we will be thinking about converting our selves to other castes. And because of this I never vote for any politicians because I dont want to be a part of illmotive intentions. My dear countrymen it is not a fight with your enemies rather it is with our own countrymen who are misusing us and misguiding for their own benefits. Further, I will excercise my voting rights when there are only two parties fighting for election throughout the country. One will be the party in power and other will be the opposition. Why to elect so many electorates from so many parties, just to give them oppertunity for horse trading. Stop this. Why cant their be two parties with one manifesto only that is development of country. Who everf performs better be in power, who fails give other party the chance to perform. This will not only give us the chance to analyse, judge the performance and give our best judgement in terms of our votes. Its High time our election comission be aware of this fact and stop so many parties from contesting election. By allowing so many parties with different manifestoes they are confusing us to decide who is the right person to lead us ..Lead India. And until this is done, politicians like behenji and other they will keep exploiting us and in turn our country will always be in the list of developing countries and not in the developed country.
